This floor to ceiling shoe rack works well once you work out the kinks. First off... the instructions are rather vague and hard to read since the type is so small. The pieces are fairly straight forward, but it would help if the rods had a sticker on them with the part# and the instructions were easier to read with bigger diagrams.

Next you have to be careful with the threaded inserts used to connect the rods. They must be centered between each rod, but there is nothing in the design to make them be that way. It is possible to thread an insert far enough into one rod, that the 2nd rod can't thread on far enough to be secure. Just make sure the insert is in the middle and you will be OK.

We have 7 foot ceilings-the description says it will fit 7-8 foot ceilings. According to the packaging and instructions it will fit up to a 9 foot ceiling, but neither of them says anything about how low the ceiling can be. Our ceilings are 7 foot and we could NOT make the unit fit without hack-sawing about 2 inches off the top rod. Be prepared to adapt your if your ceilings are low.

The last problem was with the rubber tip that goes up against the ceiling: it leaves black marks wherever it touches. I cleaned the tip but it didn't help. Luckily, I had ceiling paint on hand and painted over the marks once the unit was in place.

Having said all that, the unit itself works good. I like the fact that the tiers can be adjusted as needed.
